Well I placed 2 orders today from Amazon & Tousley's. Only two more items I need to get and I think I'll pick them up myself out in Carlisle, PA if they let me.
Here's the $1255 parts list so far ordered:
Rocker retainers
Pushrods
Lifter sets
ARP stud kits
Oil feed tubes & dummy plugs
Exhaust manifold bolts
Top End gasket kit
Felpro Headgaskets

Any guesses?

You might want to take a look at Kill Devil heads.

For sure you'll be a lot quicker then me ......

Measured out the crank journals, checked crank for straightness (perfect), polishing the journals as I type.

Might as well add the before and after of the center journal that wasn't happy.

I'll look into the recommendation. Looking good Jack. Are you chamfering the holes?

One mod that was done to the little VW Beetle engines was a roller bearing crankshaft.
I wonder how that would hold up in a diesel engine. The one down side to that crank shaft
just happened to be a very noisy crank with all the roller bearings in it. But being a diesel
if it could handle all the torque I don't see the noise being an issue.

They already are to some extent. For 75k the crank is in good shape, there's no ovality to any of the journals and the diameters are all at the max for the -25mm grind. The bearings are another story ....... for two stupid reasons, debris and mis-assembly. I pulled down the lower end because I thought I was looking at a thrust issue, rough grind on the face. Nope.

I was at a decision point of leaving the lower end alone, the top was enough of a headache. But I couldn't due to the small debris on the HPOP screen (like the transmission filter). Pulled down the oil pump because it would be most likely from there. Nope, no real scoring. 0.006" on the crank thrust, in-spec, but not what I'd like. So went deep.

The con bearings show concentrated wear like a gas motor with detonation. Not sure if it's my '03 pilot injection programming or leaving a second EGR valve up top, a combo of both .... whatever. Pistons showed a slight star pattern, early injection. Initially I wondered if the crank was ground undersize and caused a small footprint. Nope.

Sean, rollers would take a hammering in a diesel.

quick question: doesn't a 6.0 with stock software limit boost to around 25-30psi?

It commands the VGT to maintain boost peak in the 20's but if the turbo is stuck it can overboost which should throw an overboost code.

You've gotten more than 30psi boost out of a stock turbo? The most I've seen from mine is about 28 and some change...I didn't think 30+ was possible from a stock turbo.
