before i get PM'd again from people who just want to bash WM...
"NO IT WAS NOT A WALMART FILTER... WALMART HAS BEEN SOLD OUT THE LAST 2 TIMES IVE HAD TO GO GET FILTERS FOR MY TRUCK... IT WAS HOWEVER A FILTER BOUGHT AT OREILLY'S AUTO PARTS.."
this time i bought them at advance since they had them... and just an fyi when i was able to get them at walmart they didnt fall apart like the one i got from Oreilly's..
Man, must be a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes at FTE.
The O-Reilly's filter would be the same number you get from a Ford dealer.
I didn't see any physical differences between the parts based on source. One could be a little light however.
when i logged on today i had 10 pm's from people asking if it was and/or stating it had to be one wm... then going on about how much wm sucks because everythings from china with slave child labor... it drives me nuts that they just wanted to bash wm with assumptions.. ntm wm does sell stuff that is made in the usa too..
I get my oil and fuel filters from Riffraff Diesel. Cheaper than OEM and not branded “Motorcraft”, but made by the supplier that makes Motorcraft filters, so identical.
I think it's a bad batch from the manufacturer. They got sent out to whoever. I think Ford knows too. I never got a response back from my letter. I think it's why I have 2 injectors going out too......I won't know till I pull them as they under warranty till May.
I'm doing my oil & filters this week and you guys are scaring me....... Wait, bought my filters at the local IH Dealer.. Not sure where my next round of filters will come from, the IH Dealer left town so I am all ears for suggestions.
I would guess or speculate, the filter was compressed enough that no oil went unfiltered but did separate when removed.
See, when people know you're a curmudgeon or just don't like you, you just don't get that quantity of PMs. Life is quiet.
LOL. Oh I'd like to PM the crap out of you guys sometimes. Out of respect for "your time" I don't. Just post a thread or on this thread and wait. You guys are sooo much more familiar with these engines than I.
Any way....rearend work today
New rear wheel seals, axl shaft oring, repacked bearings, new parking brake pads, new dif cover, royal purple lube, torqued everything to spec and had about 4 yuenglings.

New backing plated to go with that too? The project truck needs to have the backing plates replaced. So I will be doing that sometime before it goes in for the title inspection.

Backing plates were done earlier this year. They were in need of desperate attention. Easy job and folks shouldn't ignore if they are rusty. I reused the old PB pads to get me through last summer.

I need to mine, did you save any photos you could do a write up on?

Yes PLEASE if you have the photos and the time to do a writeup on the job.
Also forgot to say I started the truck first time in 6 days and we went for a short drive.
Pain leven stayed good. I just had to change the seat settings to take some pressure off.
All in all it was good to be out of the house for a short bit.
