So what did you do to your 6.0L today?
Well after pulling the driver side of the engine apart to get the valve cover off.. found the bottom half the gasket marred up so ended up ordering a new set. i say set cuz you cant seem to just get one side.. somehow $66 turned into $132...
yesterday i got home so late and the weather was chasing me home that i didnt get to work on it... today i worked on getting it back together... after getting it back together i discovered this bolt still in the box i had the parts in...
cant figure out where i pulled it from.. looks like an intake bolt but i didnt pull the intake itself off.. only the inlet pipes.. nor did i have any open bolt holes except the one where the VC bolt snapped off into.. which i still couldnt get out.. ill have to try getting that out sometime if i ever have the rocker box off the truck again.. only guess i have now is it may have been in with the box of "extra" parts i was searching through from when i did the head gaskets last year and somehow got in the VC parts box..
but its back together now and not leaking i can tell yet... need to still get the oil changed and CCV filter done... hopefully get that done tomorrow... by time i got the driverside back together my clothes felt like id been swimming in them.. and the skies started looking not so friendly...
one of the times i went in for a drink i checked my phone for temps...
why is it everytime i have major work to do on my truck nature turned the heat up..
also had to find some safety wire for the CCV.. that was a nightmare to find.. 3 AP stores and lowes... in lowes all i could find was large gauge cable for anchoring poles, or winch line.. ect ect, picture wire (also too big ntm stranded).. and electrical wire... AP store guys were just like "huh??" luckily i found some in Advance.. its sad when you have to describe what safety wire is to auto part store employees..

Farm or truck, summer work would be fun without "it feels like ....."
Safety wire should be stainless, at least that's what I used to use. Advance, Autozone, and even Harbor Freight carries it. But the person who should be giving a tutorial about it is Sean, although he might be hitting on a truck frame with a ballpeen hammer right now.

ohh i know how to use it Jack... i just was having a heck of a time finding it... Pepboys (who usually has EVERYTHING) didnt have it... when i asked they sent me down ELECTRICAL wire isle... Napa had nothing... Lowes only had cable wire for like anchoring telephone poles, picture hanging wire and electrical wire... finally found some at Advance... if it wasnt for the fact stuffs divided between 2 houses i woulda had some but dads is at the other house with him... so i had to buy some... i use it to keep the latches closed on the CCV filter housing..

radius arm that was folded around the bolts and I could not get at the heads to remove it. A little cuts like warm
butter later and the arm was down to just the ears around the bolts. That is when I found that the the front diff
housing is junk (or will need major surgery). The yoke at the knuckle end had turned about 5º counter clockwise
and the top bolt was covered by the lower shock mount. I'll post some photos in the daylight after I get some taken.
The only hammering I did was with a small 10 Lb to knock the hot parts out of the way. I must say I love the
plasma torch much better then the axy-act when it comes to cutting.
Yes I did use the zap protector on the battery. Don't need to cook any or all the processors. I have enough going on.

Isn't 16 quarts a bit much? I thought 14 or 15 was as much as it takes with filter change. My last change I put 14 quarts in and it read full. Saved the other two and added some later when it got a little low.
After the monsoon I drove in last night,I decided to take the rain guard off and reseal it. Simple Sunday job, right?........WRONG! Somebody decided that it needed 4 layers of tape to keep it on and it still leaked. 2 1/2 hours later it was fixed. The double side sticky tape is tough stuff.
