npccpartsman thanks for responding. I was hoping an expert would chime in soon. That is exactly what I read in another forum. Could you have a slight copper washer leak that would not interfere with normal operation? I am getting an AE soon and I plan to check my contribution. I am not trying to hijack this thread, but I hope this will help the OP and others.
No please hijack all you want! lol I need any and all help i can get on here. Ok My truck is running terrible but doesn't smoke a bit and doesn't throw any codes. Truck was running this way before I got around to finally checking the fuel pres. That was my last hope because i have been up and down this truck and cant figure it out. So thats why I asked about the fluctuating needle on the gauge. I thought i was on to something
I didn't realize your truck was running poorly. My truck runs fine, it just has fluctuating fuel pressure around 60 - 70 psi. The fluctuating fuel pressure MAY not be your problem. I would explain what is going on with your truck in great detail (give readings, temps, boost, how it starts, how runs cold/hot, etc) and let one of the experts help you. I noticed you have a scan gauge and you have good filters which should be a good start. You should also check the tech folder if you haven't already done so. BPofMD suggested checking your FICM voltage which is also a good idea. My FICM gets replaced next week.
Would any know if the black impeller on the end of the fuel pump is supposed to turn freely by hand? Took out fuel pump to inspect it and it didnt seem like it wanted to spin to easy.
