I have just bought a 93 f350 with a 7.3 idi motor with a banks turbo and it smokes alot not just on start up it blows smoke all day and burns oil like crazy any ideas would really help thanks sorry it blows white smoke
I dont know much about the fuel system it has just over 200 k miles on it And i dont know the timing i just bought it four days ago i havent had time to do much with it and its my first diesiel so i may seem stupid but what is CDR
fuel system usually lasts around 100k then needs replaced, that could be causing your white smoke.
CDR = crankcase depression regulator. tuna can looking deal that hooks to your intake, if its not working properly it can suck up some extra oil through the intake, therefore "using" or "burning" oil
probably not a matter of looks, but the internals. before you go doing anything crazy start with the free stuff, clean cdr, advance timing a tad. then if no dice then look for new fuel system parts
It run good warm its a cold blooded son of a gun to start but i found a small fuel leak between the filter and injector pump and there is a little puddle of fuel at the top of the block right under the leak
