I have a 93 F250 7.5l dual tanks. Finally decided to fix my back tank and want to buy what I need before I do the job. My truck can idle off the back tank but when I push the gas it starts to die. I've tried fresh gas and new filter no luck. After sitting awhile my front tank fuel gauge no longer works. I'm assuming the float is stuck. My question is will to new sending units solve my problems? Also trying to shop for them there are so many variations of gas tanks in our trucks anyone have a part number for them? Thanks.
Does your truck have in-tank pumps (low-pressure) and a single, high-pressure pump closer to the engine?
If so, my guess would be the back tank's pump has died; do you hear any fuel pumps running for a few seconds when you turn the key to RUN but not starting the engine?
Well, nobody here can tell you if replacing parts is gonna fix anything without first diagnosing it.
Some people here have wiring diagrams for your fuel system, maybe they'll stop by and post or maybe you can find them by searching through the archives.
If you have an ohm meter, you can put the leads on the motor's wires; if you don't get any continuity, the motor is burned out.
There are also various relays and impact sensors involved, but problems there generally manifest themselves as no-start conditions and it doesn't sound like you have those symptoms.
I personally wouldn't remove the bed for something simple like this, that's gonna be a half day by itself....
Yeah I think I'm just gonna have to tackle it. The bed bolts are new that's why I was thinking of going that route. I'll try testing the pumps. Didn't realize it was such a complex fuel system.
