I have decided to buy a diablo chip. Are the stage one and two chip identical as far as the performance program? I have a 92 with a stock 460/auto OD and don't plan on doing any mods other than a cat back. I plan on doing some pulling of a travel trailer. Is there any reason I would want to switch back to a stock program? I am leaning towards the one stage. 91 octane is only 10 cents more/gal.
Ken, can you tell me why someone would want to be able to switch to a stock program?
I'm just curious. I would like to get a Diablo chip and read in another message where you said most people do not need the stage three for gas applications.
I would like to have the 87 octane option for 2002 F150 SC 4x4. What would you suggest?
I have the same question though. If the performance program is much better, why would anyone want to flip a switch to go back to the standard program?
Also, my main concern is the speed limiter. I haven't seen anything that says it will change it. All I've seen are 'maybe's. Is this a hit-and-miss thing?
Switch to stock gives you the ability to run 87 octane if the need arises.
I would not suggest paying money for an 87 octane program. The only big benefit you'll get is the transmission tuning. The higher octane programs give a horse power gain.
There is no way to guarantee raising the speed limiter unless we've programmed that particular code before. Keep in mind that Ford has over 3500 different programs.
If you can give me your ECU code I'll tell you what I have in my files.
