I am trying to locate information on the "free wheelin" package offered on '78-'79 Ford pickups. I have only seen one in person. I do have a brochure showing the package offered in '78. The truck is identified by the orange graphics package on the truck. I have only seen them on black trucks. I think the interior is black and silver with red piping. Can someone send me pictures, information or even an idea of how many of these trucks may be out there? Thank you.

I have 1979 Ford truck with the free wheeling package. The truck was rolled in 1982 ish, and even then when a friend of mine was fixing it he couldn't get all the replacement stripes from ford. So some were masked of and painted around. My brother bought the truck from him approx 10 years ago, he passed away in an accident, and I want to rebuild the truck. I am currently looking for a source of the stripes. Let me know what you find out. You can see pictures of the truck in my gallery. Or go to my memorial website, at http://jaysmemorial.tripod.com
Thats a very interesting question, I have a 79 F-100 flareside, (stepside) which i bought almost new, it is black with orange decals on the stepside fenders, ive not seen anywhere else, is there any way you could post the brochure you have? i would be very interested in seeing if it is at all similar to mine, my truck came with a deluxe bench seat in red vinyl with cloth inserts, also with a leather wrapped steering wheel with the blue ford logo in it. its a 3speedw/overdrive. just curious if there is any special code ford used to designate this freewheelin option. will check my build code for it. also the orange stripes run the lenght of the the cab to the headlight and up to the top of the cab. let me know if you can. Thanks , Toogaw.
I have a book on various 4x4's here is what it lists for the free-wheeling package. It contained a rainbow tape stripe, blackout grille, black front bumper, special interior, GT bar and styled steel wheels. A few parts in this book are kind of wacky, so I can't believe everything thats listed, but maybe it will help.
thanks million, pretty sure thats not what ive got, the style side pics are real blurry but dont think i have one, apprecitate your help. Ford Trucks Rule!!
