Dave, I really like the looks of the chrome powder coat grill shell. I have been wanting to do the same thing along with doing the grill insert but wanted to see the results first. I'm sure the pics don't do it justice but it looks awesome!! If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost to have done?

Thanks Scott.
The powder coating was $150, my shell had to small cracks I had them weld up so that was one hour of shop time for $60, so $210 total. A new shell cost $400+ and I didn't want it that bright.
It does look different in person, I hope to get the headlights in this weekend, that should give a better idea of what it will look like.
They are ceramic coated, powder coating is not for parts exposed to that much heat, it is plastic and would melt. The ceramic keeps the heat in and insulates so the engine bay is not as hot.
Awesome build! Looking forward to the outcome. I'm going to be putting frame under my '85 this spring but with a 6" suspension lift it won't fit out my 8' door. Hopefully I can use your tactic with using bare rims to get it outside!

Yeah, i hear that! Mine clears on the dollies by about 1.5", I am going to see if I can find some super low profile tires for the 18" wheels I have so I can drive it in and out once it is running.
My drive has a slight slope and it is tough to get it back in the garage once it is out.
Edit: If you have an. 8 foot door it should fit just fine unless you have a lightbar on it or something. Mine with a 6" lift and 37" tires was about 7'6" tall.
