Proportioning Valve?
I'm having a brake issue with my 79 F-150 4x4. The fluid keeps dropping in the front smaller reservoir on the master cylinder while the larger chamber is over flowing. I thought that it would be the master cylinder so I replaced it and it still has the same problem. Could it be getting through the proportioning valve somehow? I thought one reservoir was for the front brakes and the other the rear brakes somehow the fluid is getting swapped in the system somewhere.

That's certainly possible. I would have suspected the master cylinder first, but if two have the same issue (the second being a new one), then I guess it's possible that fluid is pushing past the differential valve into the other reservoir. I haven't actually heard of that happening before. Does the BRAKE light come on in the dash?

Actually the brake light should have come on but it does not light at all even when I first turn on the igniton so I'll have to check the bulb. I just wanted to see if anyone had this problem before, so I'll have to order a new proportioning valve and see if that fixes it.
