You can find the diagnostic routine in the Ford Emmissions and Powertrain Control shop manual or equivalant manual from Chilton or Motor. Following the diagnostic routine in the manual helps you find the problem without just throwing parts on and hoping you got lucky. Usually all you need is a digital multimeter and the manual and follow the step by step process. Once you adapt to using this method you'll be pleasantly surprised how easy these things are to fix.
