ok so i took out the trash the other day in my bronco II and something foul spilled on the carpet and i cannot get the smell out!!! its bad!
i have tried soaking it with warm water then vacuuming it up and an upolstry cleaner..
and flat out soap and water.. it still hasnt gone away.. what are your thoughts on getting the smell out? my wife wont even get in the car, and its her car! I have learned my lesson though take the trash in the truck!
Vanilla extract also works well. Test it to make sure it does not stain your carpet. I used to work in a butcher shop and had to drag the 50 gallon trimmings out for the waste management once a month. It was horrible. I would put the extract under my nose and then add a bottle to each empty can to wash out.
Is there a pad under the carpet...I'll bet the "stinky stuff" penetrated that. Take it apart and clean it real good...let it dry completely before putting it back in. Some time in the sun would probably also help.
Febreze...vanilla extract...will only mask the odor...not get rid of it.
i had a rotting possum under the back seat of my 66 chevelle, the smell didnt go away tell i removed the body of the possum and cleaned the metal with simplegreen

What ever made you think removing the possum carcass would help???
well for a year or more i didnt know what it was so i would eat garlic when i drove the car. tell one day i was removing the rear seat and next thing you know bam, there she was.
i was hoping on not having to remove the carpet.. it is hard to remove in bronco II's
I'm thinking that might be your only solution...the odorous liquid has gotten in to the padding...you've wet it down some more...it will take a long time to dry naturally. And...you'll probably always have some odor.

So...that's where you got the garlic thing from. Too bad it took you a year to figure it out.
