Brakes seem weak.

Hey there all.
I do not drive our Job 1 2008 F-350 Dually often. Usually only for moving our fiver in Spring, and again in Fall to store it. I take it out of the storage lot where I keep it when not in use, about once a month to keep everything lubricated. It always seems that I really have to "stuff" my foot excessively hard to get adequate braking when unloaded. My question, "Is this normal/common?" Did they change the booster system in subsequent years.
Thanks as always.

I have the same truck and mine stops fine. I hang on this forum a lot and have never heard of it. I do know if I push the brake down as hard as I can, it goes to the floor. That's normal according to ford. your problem might have something to do with the truck not being driven. Once you're on the road for a couple days does it get better? How about towing, you stopping OK under load?

Have you noticed any difference in steering? My truck has 35's and felt like manual steering when sitting still and brakes felt like manual brakes at times. Ended up being the Hydro boost.

It doesn't seem as if driving it for a while makes a difference. When I tow the fiver, I have the trailer brakes set to where they actually help slow down the whole rig. The power steering seems good. I do not know if the previous owner glazed the rotors possibly, or what type of pads are installed. It just seems that I had better braking from my 04' F-350 SRW than I get with this.

if you have a DRW it's a good bit heavier than the SRW and more centrifical force. it should require a bit more braking.

Had the same problem earlier this year - Check for seized brake pads.

My 2008 SRW ended up with seized brake pads - they were stuck in the carrier frame on three of the wheels. I really had to stand on the brake peddle to get the truck to stop.

Took some serious beating to get the pads out of the carrier, but new pads did the trick.

Thanks much for the suggestions. I will pull the wheels and calipers to check them out.
