I've not actually sat inside a supercab or a crew cab but I want one. We want a truck that can tow our camper and one that has a back seat for our daughters to ride in provided I install rear sholder belts.
I've been holding out for crew cab but one I wanted recently sold and I see supercabs out there with a much better price tag.
I know that the rear seat area in a crew is roughly 10 inches longer but does it really make that much differance in room seing as you also have a full size seat.
So have any of you sat in both cabs and was one way better than the other.
I'm just thinking I need to start considering the supercab.
I own both & the crew is a bit bigger (obviously), but a supercab can work.
The rear doors on the crew obviously make loading kids easier, and as your kids grow the back seat in a supercab seems to be smaller & smaller, so do some hard thinking before you compromise if a crew is what you REALLY want.
I know it's hard to tell whether you will be happy with the room without ever physically being in either so see if you can do so. Go check out a truck you might not actually buy just to sit in the back.
Also, be careful about what seats are in a Supercab. In mine the rear seats are just jump seats and face towrds each other across the back of the front seat. They stay folded up for the most part and are not really comfortable for longer drives.
Sitting sideways may make younger kids get car sick quicker. Don't ask me how I know, LOL.
Thanks for your input. We just got back from a shop and the guy is building a '58 Ford Crew Cab, much different than a 70's Ford but was something to actually sit in. My wife and kids got in it and said we have to get a crew cab. Even though the Supercabs are nice we've decided to wait for the right 2wd Crew
The truck they are building is sharp. It's a street rod though, lowered, etc. It was a service truck in SoCal. It only has 3 doors though. It was built for Ford by some coach company.
Thanks. I've looked at them. There is only 1 shortbed, my wife says it must be a shortbed. Anyway I talked to the guy about the 1975 in Mesa and he mentioned that it had the "normal piston slap noise that goes away when you give it more gas and it's nothing to worry about", that scared me away. My buddy was talking to him about it earlier and got the same speech. I may see if someone can take a look at it for me over on the regional site.
