PowerMax Turbo

I'm looking into a PM turbo. My stocker is fine,I'm just looking for some whistle .

I did a search on here about them and it seems I can run it on my stock tune,Correct?

I in no way want to tune my truck at all.All I want is the new turbo.

Do I have to worry about my headgaskets blowing with this turbo?

I've never had any problems with my truck and I don't want to cause any either just because I want more whistle.

Thanks for the advice!

Yes, you can run it on a stock truck. I would recommend a PHP FICM tune that will increase throttle response and MPG's and it won't affect or endanger your headgaskets.

They put different injector control parameters in it. Other than that you'll have to ask them. www.powerhungryperformance.com. I see, thanks to Sean, that they have some new FICM tunes available, so go check it out.

npccpartsman, are you using a ficm tune? I didn't know that would help with mpg's, i'm using mat's tunes & noticed a 1-2 mpg drop after upgrading to the the powermax. His tunes are geared for power/performance

I have the Powermax and I will tell you there will be no benefit from that Turbo unless you do some tuning and performance mods.

I'm not looking for any power gains at all.Really reliability is what I'm after. My truck will sit for two weeks and I always worry about it freezing up.Ive read the PM won't freeze up near as easily.

if you are just looking for the whistle, u could get a wheel off an 03 turbo or get an 03 turbo. without tuning, the pm will make ur truck slower and even more sluggish. it would b worth it more going to the 03 turbo is all ur after is whistle

I think what he's referring to is the problem with vanes sticking. Supposedly it doesn't happen as easily with the Powermax.

Powerstoke-wannabe, yes mat wrote my tunes for the pm. There is about a second delay before it spools...

I've been running a tuned FICM for 2 years. I was running an ID tuned FICm for performance that hurt my mileage but would rock the house. I switched to the PHP tune for mileage and more intown driveability. Two totally different animals.
