Broken transfer case adaptor?
I have an 1985 f250, 4 speed T-19 tranny with 13-45 transfer case. It started leaking tranny oil between adaptor and tranny, found out it had broken 3 of the ears off the adaptor. Went to junkyard got another one and installed it then drove it home 8 miles down the interstate. It was leaking again. Looked under it and found it had broken both left side ears off the adaptor again? Jacked it up, started it and put it in 4th gear. Something is kind of growling occasionally, I think its the tranfer case but cant tell for sure. Has anyone heard of this problem of them breaking the adaptors? Is there anyway to tell if its rear end, tranny or TC making noise? Thanks for any help
