I want to install gauges and have decided on the Autometer
z-series. Which boost gauge do I need? They have one with boost / vac. and they sell one with boost only (30psi or 60psi). What is the vaccuum gauge for? Also they sell two trans temp gauges. One from 100-240 degrees and one from 140-280 degrees. Which one do I need? I just installed a 4" exhaust and tymar intake. I will be towing a 8000 lbs. travel trailer.
A boost/vac gage gives you a bit more info. The vacuum part is useful on a gasoline engine if you're driving for economy. On a Diesel with an unthrottled intake, it doesn't add any real function.
As to the tranny temp gage, gages are the most accurate at midrange. You are concerned about temperatures exceding 200° F, so I'd go with the 140-280° F gage (midpoint = 210° F.)
