Trust me...I know exactly what you are talking about. I spend a lot of time in trouble. My wife tells everyone that I'm cheating on her with my bronco. That's why mine isn't started yet.

Hahah, well i have no one but parents to tell me not to work on it. They are more concerned about my room being cleaned... I just don't have experience and money to do a bunch of work, i find the work i have done is more than a lot of 19 year olds around me have ever done. I am not knowledgeable about a lot of things and usually refer to here or kind of just fumble with it till it works. Sometimes thats a good thing and other times it just appears more broke than before.

Haha, i wish, the neighbor across from me has to be the expert, he tears down and rebuilds his drag racing 302 so often. And he has a ton of cars he works AND hes a damned plumber... A good one too. But the nicest guy on the block. He has helped me along the way so much and even went through the hassle of putting my transmission shift/kickdown linkages back on without any payment.I plan to ask him if he could weld my bung for my transmission pan that is I also planned to ask him if he has any 4bbl intakes or knows anyone selling one for cheap for my mutant...

Geez I'm gone for a week and everyone starts all these awesome build threads.

Just Curious ErrorS, what suspension are you running to handle the 35's?

You should look into the floor shifter like I got. I love it and it has held up like a champ. Only thing is I had to modify the MLPS to work with my exhaust, no biggie.

I know how you feel about things constantly breaking, my trucks previous owner was a tool. Everything pretty much seems to be working at 90% in teh Zebra and I'm content with that, becuase it'll never work at 100% for long.

You should get the Edelbrock intake and tell us how awesome it is so I'll be convinced to get one.

I too might look into one if i find a cheap one.

I also know how it feels to have things working 50% ish... Most of my dash lights still don't work and now i have now way to tell how hot my coolant is... I still haven't figured out what i need to do to get my aftermarket temp gauge out and use my stock one. I also have a tach i could install but i have no clue how that works...

One of these days I'll do a floor shifter.. as for suspension, just Deaver 5.5s in the front with Bilsteins and a custom leaf pack in the back.

Hes also gonna do the lift on TGM too I actually plan on seeing if my neighbor will sell me the 4 inch he has on his old ford pickup. His son is doing an 18 inch lift on it so i will see how much he would want. Then i need new shocks cause my ranchos were probably ment for a 4inch and their almost bottomed out sitting normal... The tube takes up most of the height...

whew, been a rough week. Anyways, pictures as promised.

First off, the rocker arm, fulcrums and indentations I was talking about.

The bottom of the fulcrum has an indented guide

sits on top of the raised guide on the rocker arm

noticed the few I had backward were more worn than I thought, the rocker arms are actually loose when fully tightened now. It wore down the raised portions of the inside of the rocker arm, so now the fulcrum doesn't sit as tightly on it and move as well. Don't think it's going to cause too much trouble, but I'm not gonna run the motor another 100k like this

Here are some pictures of the carbon i was talking about. Remember, I have cleaned this once already and have been doing short oil changes with good oil, recently started using CJ4 oil, so it should be cleaning it up. I think I have an exhaust valve that is burnt or isn't seating correctly

and

the driver's side looked decent the last time I pulled it, it's just this head dirtying up. Use to blame my PCV system, but I'm running a motorcraft PCV valve and give it plenty of attention, never let it get dirty, etc. This isn't sludge, it's harder, smellier, etc.

last but not least:

broken upper.. sitting with epoxy on it now. Don't expect the epoxy to do much but help me seal it a bit better, the second I put any torque on a bolt I know it will fall off. I think it will be fine, but another fricking part being held on with a bandaid does NOT make me happy!

This is the bolt that keeps bending. The nut strips the threads and I can't loosen or tighten it, so I end up having to cut it off, then the top portion of the bolt is bent when i remove it. I bought a different brand of bolts and I think it will hold up, just gonna finish other work before I do this

just another picture of that area where the bolt keeps breaking. As you can see, it receives great deal of force from both the steering box and the suspension. Immediately above that is where people tend to break their frames, I honestly think the loose rivet causes the frame to break in this section, with a tight rivet and/or bolt in place, it should keep that section of frame rigid enough to keep it from cracking!

Though I'm worried I already cracked mine

and this is the part of my frame that I KNOW needs a cross member of some kind until I can get a heavy duty bumper. That bent up hole is when I removed my sway bar mounts, the nut broke off and seized and I tried prying it off and bent the frame a tad. *As you can see, your front body mount sits RIGHT above this area (see the riveted portion? thats the body mount) and Ford never, ever intended for this portion of the frame to not have a crossmember of some kind.

My dash keeps coming loose, I get creaks and squeaks from it and you can hear the body flex when crawling. I know this is why! Probably why I popped the rivet and probably why I keep breaking this bolt.

Hey man, thanks for the pictures, it explains more. I wonder if my truck had those types of rivets too, i will have to check... BTW those springs look really nice Also what the hell did you use to pry on that bolt??? I am kind of surprised they don't have these riveted parts at least spot welded on. That way if the rivet breaks, you still have some strength.

boput to go up and finish up.. think I'm gonna wire brush my engine so it looks a bit better, upper and lower intake, ac compressor, etc.. should just get it done, but bleh

also gonna relocate my ECT to be inline on my water pump hose. Didn't like the stock location, and after i relocated it into a big mess of pipe fittings because some of it broke, i know it was reading a lot cooler than engine temp.

Oh, does anyone know? The return hose is the one that goes to the water pump and the main hose is the one that comes out of the upper behind the thermostat? trying to figure out which of these hoses are gonna be hotter. I know one of them is always as hot as engine temp and the other is a few degrees cooler because of your heater core.

otherwise, can't think of a good spot to put my ect.
