i saw your discreption of your truck engine on a post you did and was wondering how you came up with the number of 340hp, and would like to know your combo, and what kinda gas milage your gettin. i'm going to rebuild my engine over spring break so i'm gettin ideas together.
I bought it from www.centralcoastmustang.com. It is a BRAND new engine which consisted of a roller cam, forged pistons, GT40P heads, Headers, and more. They rated it at 350 HP with the stock intake on and dual exhaust. I had them put in a different cam which lowered it a bit. I was told that the truck intake flows better than the mustang so it actually might be more than 340. They are a very spoke about company in the 5.0 mustang world.! And I got the engine for 2400.00 which is EXCELLENT for a brand new engine!
Right now I'm getting 15.4 MPG. But my truck is running like crap (low vacuum which is my mistake for not paying close attention to lobe seperation on the cam). I expect the mileage to increase once I get it running right!
I don't know the torque numbers but It definatley has a ton more than the stock ones. Usually the cam and head combo is what gives you the torque difference. This is the ad on their site. The engine I bought I added the forged pistons and 1.7 ratio rockers!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Oct-02 AT 09:12 PM (EST)]hmm 2K for a bolt in 320hp engine? what cam did your get and which one would you recomend, and 320 without bolt ons is great, i'm going to read on their site a lil more, also do you think it'll work with speed density? i slaped the combo into desktop dyno with the x-303 cam and a 500cfm intake(not sure what the flow is on the trucks) and the hp is 344@6000rpm and toqure is 337@4500rpm the LSA on the x-303 cam is 112 and should make enough vacume for speed density if i remember correctly.
I wanted the E cam but they put in the B cam. I don't recommend the B cam!!! Although It is fun to watch the tach go to 6000 RPMS and have the rig continue to pull. The B cam is going to give you more HP but I don't recommend it for trucks or speed density. I couldn't really recommend one right now because I'm in the process of searching to swap the one out that is in there now!
I've read alot about this company in 5.0 Fast Fords magazine and it seems that they are very reliable! It was my mistake with the B cam because I didn't explain it good enough. They did offer to sell me a new cam at a reduced price though!
You cant beat that price for the HP you get and the thought of having a BRAND new engine. And you get to keep your core!
Brett, how is the low end like around 2000rpm? I suppose that high end cam doesn't help matters but im just curious for sake of highway get up and go/hillclimbing power.
Right now I have no low end. The vacuum problem causes it to run poorly until I hit about 3000. Then the everything kicks in. I haven't worked on it in about 4 weeks (bought another truck, priorities changed....) I'll fix it one of these days!
