I have a 1989 f-250 with a 7.3L diesel. No turbo. I never get any black smoke no matter how hard I pull or throttle it. I am only getting 10-12 mpg. I was told this eg. should run around 3000rpm. I don't thank that is right. How can improve this fuelmileage? I have already tried fuel additives. And where is the horsepower (rpm) on this engines.
just like a gas engine, when the performance and economy are low,you start with a basic tune-up.downside to this is, a diesel tune-up cost more.but this is known and planned in when considering buying a diesel......hopefully.
