Check Engine Light/Codes

I have an odd problem with my '87. I have no check engine light in the dash. I was wondering if anyone else has ever run into something like that. It's a 5.0L EFI. It has an "Engine" light that comes on when the oil pressure goes too low (when the truck's off) and a space in the instrument cluster for the Check Engine light, but there is no light. I swapped a light bulb into the socket there to see if it had just been taken out, but it didn't light up when I tried to pull the codes with the Check Engine light. There also appears to be no wire going to the specific pin in the wiring harness in the back of the instrument cluster that would go to the light. I guess I'll just have to keep pulling them with the analog volt meter unless anyone else has anything new that I might have not thought of. Thanks.

you can use a test light in place of the meter. On the pre 90s trucks the light wasn't there.

Thanks for the info...I wonder why the cut out is there in the dash if they weren't planning on using the light. Oh well, thanks for the reply.
