Injector sealing problem

I need some advice last November i replaced both heads with new ford heads and ARP studs also replaced all injectors with carquest reman. The truck ran perfect for a week then without any warning the truck quit running and liquid locked. The first two cylinders on the left hand head copper seal failed then o-rings then liquid lock, i had carquest replace thsose injectors when i went to put them back in i noticed the copper seals were not new so i replaced all orings and copper seals on that side with new . About a month later the same thing has happened again. Do i have injector problem or a injector bore promlem is the question.

So your saying the carquest injectors came with used or bad seals? Btw this type of thing is why everyone recommends using only ford reman injectors. Did you use the correct torque on all the injector hold downs? If my motor hydrolocked due to carquest injectors I would pull them all out. And get my money back.

Carquest offered a lifetime warranty which seemed like a good idea when I bought them. The thing is the other head has never had a issue. First failure I inverted the clamps and double checked the torque.

If it was me, this is what I would do:

*Ditch the CarQuest parts...unless they're selling you Ford Reman (not likely)
*Get a good set of Ford Reman Injectors
*Confirm the injector cups are clean and the hold down threads are clean & good
*Install the injectors with brand new Ford/Navistar o-ring kit (can get you part number if needed)
*Oil the o-rings with clean oil (don't use diesel)
*Torque the injector hold downs to 28 Ft/Ib (original spec is 26 Ft/Ib)

That should take care of your issues. If your still getting hydro-locking/excessive fuel into the cylinder...I'd say your injector cups are cracked/warped. Not a common issue reported around here.

Is it always the same cylinder that Fails???

If its the Coppers combustion washer that always fails it might not be a injector issue but a Injector hold down issue or injector cup issue

Being new Ford heads I wouldnt think its a Injector cup issue but never know. IMO if it was a Injector cup issues it would fail fairly Fast everytime not go a month then fail

I inverted the hold downs last time and the problem stayed on the same cylinder

Assuming you mean you swapped a couple of the injector hold downs from one injector to another around? If you've got them upside down they're not holding the injectors all the way down in the injector cup. In fact, I'm not sure you could get the torq screw to thread into the head if the hold-down is upside down...but anything is possible. Just wanted to make sure I'm on the same page with you.

Are you doing the work yourself or paying a shop to do the work? I hate assuming anymore (been burned a couple of times). If your doing the work, for the record, explain what you've done trying to resolve the hydro-locking issue...and more importantly, why you replaced the heads in the first place. Hopefully we can give you some ideas of what to check to fix it once for all.

Sorry about the confusion i swapped locations of the hold downs (1to4 & 2to3), I manage a small shop in a small town thought i got a good deal on a nice truck. I repaced the heads because fuel was getting in the coolant and it ran bad when cold so i changed the injectors and the heads at the same time and did the other updates reccomended for this engine.

Man this is an odd issue for shure.

Hows the fuel pressure could it be way high

maybe theres something wrong with the injector cup itself

I know I torqed mine to 26 FT/LBS and have been fine on the injector hold downs I made shur injector cup was clean and Blew the Injector hold down bolt hole out with air and used all new Oring kits on everything

IMO if you have swapped injectors and holddowns around and still having an issue on the same cylinder almost has to be the Head/Injector cup

thats where the bad luck comes, what are the odds that 1 of the 2 new heads i bought from ford could have a tolerence issue.
