I appreciate the well wishes. Those of you with a similar background knows that there's always a strong family behind us keeping things going. My wife is a saint.
Maybe i'll drop in from time to time to give some off-topic perspective. This is an interesting time to be in the military to say the least... there's some very different precedent being set in a number of areas, from budgeting and recruiting and operations and authorities all the way up to grand strategy, insomuch as we have one.
And for those of you who paved the way, thank you for giving us the capital we have to do our job.
Theres a couple of us in the sandbox now that are getting real close to coming back. If your headed to the Afghan area be real safe. Things have gotten real bad since the Quran burning. Thanks for your service.

So I hear. Keep your head down until you get on that plane, and I mean until the last second. Back in 2008 I watched two kids go home the wrong way with less than a week left, and unfortunately it was textbook complacency (they were with an adjacent unit).
I see Sumter in your title... I just did a pretty long field op out in the Sumter Nat'l Forest and Columbia not long ago.
Chesty, Well where i'm at theres not too much flying around my head except for sand storms. Did you do field ops on Ft Jackson and Manchester State forest? Those are two places I go hunting.
Started at Fort Jackson, then Columbia proper, then Sumter Nat'l Forest, mostly near Edgefield, and in town at Edgefield. We hit the reservoir some too, and I spent a day on a reserve base over there.
Let's just say we had the rumor mill in Edgefield crankin' pretty hard. It was a good time.
