3 friends and a case of beer. Not that heavy if you take the doors off. Build yourself a wheeled dolly to set it on first so you can move it around.

Steering wheel is in.
Bunch of other little things done.

I am probably going to order rear calipers, rotors, and pads for the 9 inch. As well as brake lines and fuel lines. Once I've done that I am going to start preparing to remove the cab, anyone got a guess on how heavy it is or what you need to lift it?

What steering column did you buy? I need to purchase one and like the way yours is setup.

It is the classic column from Mid Fifty. It cost around $300.

What length of column did you go with? That looks really nice for the price. I was looking at ididit columns but their price seems outrageous compared to Midfifty

30 inches. Anything longer will put a 15 inch steering wheel in your face. Ididit columns also dont come with a shift indicator installed(another 275$), if you are doing column shift. I interrogated them fairly well. Only 2 have ever been returned to midfifty of numerous sold.

I bought my plain steel tilt Ididit column from Mid Fifty, but that was a few years ago.

WTB 53-55 Cab

I think I am throwing in the towl on this cab. I used a mild abrasive wheel on the driver side cowl to find that it is not original paint but sheridan blue. It was cut and removed with a torch that was not favorable to the cab above the seam and then hidden with bondo. This combined with all the other repairs needed are forcing me to compare costs of fixing this one and just starting over with a different cab.

WTB 53-55 Truck cab with minimal rust.

Also interested in any 53-55 Truck with a decent cab. No title needed.

I am in Kentucky and can pick up the cab in any neighboring state.
Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois. Cabs further away will be considered but shipping costs limit my price range.

Can email me at aaronr187@gmail.com or reply to me on this thread or my build thread. I need pictures.

Thanks.

I'd suggest looking for a cab in the SW states, AZ NM NV So CA. for a rust free example. All the 53-55 cabs F100- F500, are the same. Shipping should be 300. - 500. for a cab and doors, less than the cost of fixing another rust problem cab. Working with solid metal is a real pleasure. You've done a good job on the chassis, it deserves a good solid cab.

Well, a long day today. I ended up bringing home a dissembled 54 f100 with a much much much better cab. No bedbox or frame, but I have both of those anyhow. I needed a ton of these body parts and boxes of new small stuff I just haven't had time to go through.

Yeah, I have to sort through this quick and clean up the garage. Not pictured are some freshly chromed side hood emblems, new rubber for windows and fenders, headliner molding, and countless other items. The hood is almost perfect.

It was a great deal, I wont go into much detail, but it was bitter sweet taking home someone Else's project. For the price he gave me I couldn't barter I just gave him what he asked for it.

I am almost finished with the chassis and have collected almost all of the body and rubber. A lot of good glass and the oak boards. I need to have my engine rebuilt by a machinist. Switch to roller rocker arms and a small bore over. I also need the transmission rebuilt. A lot of incidentals and interior. Sounds less than it actually is .

I have a 4 link rear suspension. Ford 9 inch, rebuilt with posi and 3.00 gears. Relocated to beneath the bed gas tank. Mustang 2 front suspension with polished steel control arms. Partially boxed frame rails. 4 wheel disc brakes. Power plant is a 351c with C6.
I am not C notching. I have no plans to ever want air bags, or drop anything that extreme.

looks good aaron!
I really like the looks of the 4 link. I wish I knew more about installing one, it looks clean. I have a leaf spring set-up, but it isn't pretty...
