OBDII connector?

Hello all. Does anyone have a schematic for the obd connector. I have a 2004 F-250 6.0L 127,000 miles. The truck runs fine and everything else works on the truck.I have a scangauge and when i plug in the scangauge it doesnt connect. I have checked the fuses they are all good. I have disconnected the batteries for over an hour and then touched the cable ends together and still nothing. Im hoping someone can help me out with a schematic. All help is greatly appreciated. I have tried the scangauge on other vehicles and it does work.

If it powers up and just doesn't connect you'll have to go reconfigure the way it connects either for CAN or PWM if I recall correctly. If it doesn't power up then check to see if you have a wire cut or check the cigar lighter fuse. I don't recall the fuse # off the top of my head but it's in the owners manual.

Thanks for responding. I have checked the fuses and none are bad. The cigar lighter works. The radio works. I have checked all fuses for ignition and none are blown.I also have a superchips tuner and it wont connect with the truck either.I get to where the tuner tells me to turn on ignition and nothing happens. its as though the ignition is not being recognized as being on.

These trucks require a CAN-compliant code reader. If your device will not connect using the CAN protocol, your device will not work correctly with the truck.

I have had the scangauge and the tuner for over a year. They used to work no problem in the truck. This is a problem that has just happened. Again the scangauge works on other vehicles. Could it possibly be a relay?I have 12v power on the #16 pin of the connector. It seems as though the ignition being turned on is not recognized

Have you tried hiting the bottom right hand button per chance? Just turn ignition on...don't start the vehicle, push that button and see if anything happens.

Does the tuner work thru the ODBII?

BPof MD thanks for responding. I have tried to push the button. I have a superchips tuner and a scangaugeII. When i try to plug either of them into the obd connector they light up the scangauge tells me its connecting but it never does. The tuner powers up lets me get to where it tells me to turn on ignition and thats where my problem is.I turn on the key and it is not recognized by either the tuner or the scangauge. It seems as though the ignition being turned to on [not running just key on] is not being recognized by either. I have checked all fuses, none are bad. I have disconnected the batteries for over an hour and then touched positive to negative and reinstalled cables and still the same situation.I do have 12volts at pin #16 on the connector.I am wondering if it could be a relay? The truck starts, runs fine everything works except the diagnostic connector. Scratching my head at this point

Auto Zone's web site has a number of schematics on the truck. Here's a link to mine....

You may have to join to see the manuals and electrical diagrams. It's free tho.

Thanks again for the reply BPofMD. I joined and checked out those schematics, but i couldnt find that OBD connector. I have one schematic, but it doesnt show me all the wires in the connector. There are 2 orange wires in the connector that dont show on my schematic. I was hoping to not have to remove the dash and just follow the wires. That may be my only option. Thanks again.

Is it possible one of the pins on the obd is bad/bent? It sounds like its not getting power, could be an inline fuse on the powered wire? There are a few ford tech that might chime in. Good luck and let us know what it was!

This is my thought too. Or that someone cut one of the wires. I've seen tech's do that before.

Curt's05 i have checked the pins they seem to be in good shape. klbrown thanks for the schematic that will help me. npccparts i havent had the truck to a garage since i bought it 6 years ago. I had an injury last August and couldnt drive the truck because i couldnt push the clutch in. the truck sat for 2 months till i could drive it again and thats when this problem started. I do have 12volt power on the #16 pin. It seems as though its not connecting with the PCM.I will be following wires and see what i can find.I had the connectors off the PCM over the weekend. i didnt see any problem there. No bare wire or chafed sections .

wilefish, did you ever figure out what was wrong with your truck's obd port? The bus, signal & chassis grounds are critical to access the trucks computers.
