I have a 2006 6.0 f-350 4x4 is there a external transmission filter if yes where would it be located also is it the screw on & off type.
1 more question are the glow plugs on the outside below the valve cover
or are they inside under the valve cover
i'm showing # 6 to be bad

The glow plugs are in the rocker box below the valve covers. There is a harness that runs the length of the rocker box that has bakolite plugs that plug into the tops of the glowplugs. It's recommended that you have a spare glowplug harness on hand before attempting to remove it because of the likely hood of breaking one of the bakolite plugs.
There is an auxillary transmission filter canister under the passenger side front corner of the truck--aluminum with a nut cast onto the bottom that usually takes an impact to remove (best way). There is what looks to be a toilet paper roll type filter inside. Best/cheapest place is to get it from dieselfiltersonline.com Get the NTZ brand as they are the OEM manufacturer and $$ cheaper than OEM. No reason to change the inpan screen. It's there in case of catastrophic failure and the only time it needs changed.
