Thanks for all the help and info. I'm thinking of swapping the front leafs for 6-inch multi-leaf springs (RCD, DR, etc.) for a better ride and a bit more clearance for 35's. The Rancho's are OK, but they are stiff and sagged 1 inch a year after they were installed. I've looked over the Dynatrac system in the past, it's a stiff bill for a $400 part that only takes an hour to change.... I figure I'd have to go through 6 more hub/assy's to justify the cost, and at 60,000 miles for the first pair I don't know if I'd have the truck long enough. More information on that as I see how many miles I get out of the replacement pair.
DCSpecial - keep us posted on the kit development.
I'm off to Farmington in about four hours to road test my meck-a-neck repair last night. My dealer gave me a warranty claim form and said they would reimburse me for the cost of the 2nd hub after inspection - if they believe this is the first replacement part, who am I to correct them for 4 bills, eh? Done it in an hour, including tools cleanup and road test - too wiped out for the 39 beers though.
Bitchin' set of tools - more than I want to remember
An hour of my labor vs the dealer book schedule - $250.00
Getting Ford to pick up the tab for the part - priceless
Kudos to the guys at Sanderson Ford in Glendale, AZ. I finally got the paperwork back to them with both the original and replacement receipts. On the spot they issued me a 100% credit for the replacement hub assy, no questions asked.
This is gonna make it real hard for me to justify the Dynatrac, I don't have a problem changing the part as long as it doesn't cost me $375 each time, just an hour of labor (BFD)
DCSpecial - any developments on the system you spoke about?? I've also had thoughts of building a Dana 60 front, but ABS and other issues have tempered my enthusiasm for the moment.
Thanks again for all of the support, I love my truck and this site is the best out there.
