timing issues
have 85 f-250 and the timing keeps changing. thought it was the distributor so i replaced it. i had it set to 8 btdc like the sticker said. the truck kept its timing while running turned off the motor than back on and still kept time. let the engine cool than started it up again and now its at about 20 atdc. any ideas???

Your harmonic balancer may be slipping. The rubber breaks loose, and lets the outer ring slip around, and that's where the timing marks are. If the timing really was slipping, then you should notice a difference in how it runs.
