altonator wiring
I recently put a 86 351 in my 63 and was wondering if i had to wire it through the voltage regulator or if it had one built in and how to wire it up any help would be appriciated thanks

Alternator
Use a Ford 3G internally regulated 100 amp. Google "Ford 3G installation" and see what pops up. Ebat seller has these alternators and install kits for about 100 bucks. Eliminates the regulator lots of rotten wiring and is a simple install. Check the technical section for similiar installations using a Delco 12SI.

it would depend on what alternator is on the '86 engine...i'm not sure when they switched from the 1G over to the 2G. 1G would have an external regulator, 2G would be internal.
In any case- I agree with William. Go with the 3G.
But if you need to use what you've got, this page has pics of the alts for identification, and also the wiring diagrams.
