what should normal shift points for 5.4 SD be?

short story been having this 2-3 hard shift like a few other members on this site have posted about also, i haven't noticed ever until last night when my brother said "your truck shifts real low?". My SD with 4.30 gears and 285/75R16 shifts at 4600 or 4700rpm? Ive been looking at you tube all last night and ever video i watch with the 5.4 they all shift at 5 or 5100rpm? Now my brothers 2005 f150 with 5.4 and 3.73 gears and stock size tires shifts at 5000rpm, even my 2011 E350 cargo van with 5.4, auto and 4.10 gears shifts at 5100rpm. So either my truck has some huge electrical problems or my custom tunes from Five Star are f$cking up my shifts?

The WOT shift points vary a little depending on what gear your in, engine load and etc. WOT from a stop (in 1st) can rev out to 5000rpm but sometimes its a little more but usually less. The shift points changes on the tuner are in mph not rpm so there is going to be some variation. I'd expect your brothers 150 rev out a little further because its a 3V and breaths a little better up top than your 2V thus the shift point is bumped up a little. Revving too far past peak hp can sometimes have a negative effect. You can bump up the shift point by 1 mph and go from there if you desire.

Imnot the only one in the world with a 5.4 SD, no can type in the rpmforme? Because im sure something is wrong with my truck now, its either factory faults or these tunes

also on the way home today i went to this closed road a few miles from my house, i did a couple of dead stop runs, then i did a few manually in 1st only where the truck hit the rev limiter at 4600rpm, yet second gear hits at 5600rpm where Mike has the rev limiter set on my tuner? So i have another check on the something is wrong box

your second gear hits 5600 rpm?? holy crap, ive never gotten my 5.4 that high before, and i have mike's tunes too. my 5.4 shifts right around 4700-4800 with his tunes also, it was slightly higher before but i read that his tunes lower the shift points. i dont notice any problems with it?
*note* the first pull wasnt pedal to the floor

I forgot about the E series having the 2V.

Pretty sure he doesn't touch the rev limiter and it should be around 5300rpm across the board. Mine is set at 5300rpm tuned and was that way from factory.

You should not be seeing 5600rpm at all even if you put the truck in neutral and push the pedal to the floor. It may be possible you have a trans issue and your getting a flare during the shift and the engine can't slow down quick enough when the trans slips. Like I said before when stock the shift point rpm varied some depending on load and terrain.

Mike is good at tuning and doesn't change things that do not need to be changed. I never had any problems with his tunes on my truck nor my dads truck. We have both been running them for a few years now. I did notice the shift points were slightly lower with his tunes but I figured he had the truck on the dyno so he knows. Like I said you can bump them up 1 or mph if you like. I did bump mine up slightly in a gear or two.

when i put the trans in first gear manual it hits rev limiter at 4700 to 4800 rpm, when shifted from 1st to 2nd manual and left in 2nd it hits rev limiter at 5600rpm. When in Park i can hit rev limiter at 5600rpm. It does this because Mike's tunes are set to 5600rpm, even my tuner options say so, i can click on park rpm or drive rpm and they are both set on 5600rpm???

Back it down to 5300rpm. You can have him double check the tunes he sent you and see if they is something out of the norm. His tunes do lock up the torque converter upwhich can help reduce rpm some. My tunes lock up the converter quite a bit aggressively than his regular tunes.

ill take a video tomorrow after work i guess,it will show you's whatimtalking about.
ACF6 it looked like 4500 to me?
And why lower the shifts? that would actually hurt the trucks overall speed, its shifting lower in the rpm making less power

im thinking im having some electric problems for real now, when i had him write me a 87tow to replace my 93tow i was driving the truck around for two days with the stock tune and my TQ locks the same as his tunes? And i did double check with him that YES he did make the TQ adjustments and i should see and feel the difference, which im not seeing or feeling anything different than stock??

The engines horsepower peaks at 4,250rpm and declines from that point. Like I said before I figure he had the truck on the dyno and found its quicker that way empty. He does base his tunes off of actual trucks on the dyno.

It can take days or even weeks of driving for the truck to "learn" the new tune. When I disconnected the battery and the memory was reset it took a bit of driving for the tune to feel right again the way it was before.

Yeah I have the V10 in my truck but the tuning is pretty much identical to the 5.4l.
