i ran a true duel on a 86 6.9 and it ran like a champ. LOL that included the fact that we had the fuel pump turned way to far up on the sob and the stacks we had on it was shooting 2-3ft flames outta them lol truck ended up being smashed cause i couldnt get it out of impound so yea i was greatly sad about that. after we replaced the ip with the fuel in the right area it still ran like a champ and threw coal as long as ur foot was in her

My dad has an 88 with 2.5" duals with H-pipe where the factory Y crossover was, and exits in front of the rear tires. Sounds good and runs good. He bought it that way so no before/after on how much it added.
Personally i cant see how the H or X pipe would reduce torque, all it does is equalize the pressure in the exhaust banks so it can take the path of least resistance. Not enough back pressure can cause exhaust scavenging to suffer which could definitely drop low end torque. Generally a crossover of some sort is good for performance, however it all depends on size of the exhuast and cam profile.

Reason being is because the stock systems have bad reversion and bank-crossfire. Isolating them will make for better flow.
