Back in about 1992, when I was coaching Little League, I told my team that if they won first place I would take them to Denver to watch the Colorado Rockies. Well, it almost happened. They took second for the season. I told them we would go anyway. I bought 25 tix for $4 bux a piece out in the Rockpile, which is deep in left center field. We rounded up half a dozen parents that helped throughout the year coaching, umpiring, team moms, etc and away we went on a 350 mile one way journey. The kids chose to go to a game when the Braves were in town. It was an awesome experience that 20 years later, a lot of the kids, now adults, still talk about. You never come out on the short end when you invest in kids.
I have posted 1590 times in this thread & 1540 times in Savages thread, wow that's even hard for me to believe, lol
Yup...keep it up too.

Great story Ron...thanks for sharing that!
One of the big things about my involvement with these kids is that I hope by giving them good, solid, morally, and ethically sound guidance, it will possibly prevent them from being customers of mine in the future. This is an outstanding group of young ladies and they're vastly improved form how they began.

@ John. We need more men like you to step up t o the plate and mentor our Children
@Savage. You make me proud to know what you give to our future. The boys youve taught a lot of the right way in life.
@Roy. We need more men who will sacrifice things in the name of a child.
@Everyone else that takes time with children and. Does things with children. I know s o many parents that
Its all about themselfs and forget the child.
@Darren. A example of what a parent does for the kids. Those countless hours keeping a skating rink for the family.

I can't rep you, but thank you and the rest of you as well
Keep your chin up Roy. I was having some medical issues for this past year and stress was a big factor. Hopefully your doc finds that you just need to take a vacation from all the drama you've been going thru. Have em write you a prescription to Disneyland for your honeymoon and take the little one along. That's where me and ma went almost 34 years ago for our honeymoon. BTW, Bless you for taking care of Theresa. God has a way of getting even. Let him carry the burden. He's got bigger shoulders than we do. Hope all goes well.

Well said guys.
Well, I really don't care about the truck tonight. Our girls won their semi-final basketball game by nine points and they're playing for the league championship on Saturday morning!!!
Man, I was always nervous about playoffs as a dad but the pressure's really on now as a coach. They'll do great and even if they don't win, I'm SUPER proud of all of them for getting this far. The teams were kind of stacked this year and our girls had to overcome a lot and they did it with flying colors.
Okay, I'm done bragging now. Did I say I'm a proud dad and coach?
So how is everyone this evening? Glad to see all of you posting in here tonight guys.

Ditto that brother. I really have a blast with you guys and it's always nice to drop into either of these threads and just shoot the BS for a while. I kind of feel like Norm on Cheers. Come in, sit down at the bar, order up a cold brew, and talk to Sam, Woody, Coach, Cliff, and Carla. Thank goodness I don't look like him though.

Thanks Paul. I really enjoy my kids and watching them grow up. My wife and I stay heavily involved with the schools here and are fortunate enough to work flexible schedules. I used to be on twelve hour swingshifts and it was terrible. Straight dayshift has been a blessing to all of us.

Got him for both of us.

Howdy Roy!!
Likewise my friend and you have my deepest respect and admiration for what you're doing for Theresa. There are precious few people in this world who give of themselves completely and ask nothing in return but to see a child safe and happy. You my friend are a true hero and I know she sees you that way too.
