Alright, so for the past month or so, there has been a small coolant leak on my truck. I've inspected under the hood and it seems to be coming from the T-fitting that was installed on the heater hose when I installed my coolant filter from DieselSite. It was small, and it's -40 almost daily so I keep an eye on it, it only seems to leak at night when the truck cools off. Now, there is no heat. This started yesterday. I shouldn't say there is no heat, because there is once in a while, it's intermittent. The ECT on my SCT Livewire goes between 180 and 188 depending on whether I'm in town, highway, or sitting. Does anyone have any input on the heat issue? Today hopefully, I will tighten the hoses on the T fitting and see where that gets me.
Your ECTs seem slightly on the cool side. 188 would be the low end of normal full operating temp.
Is your coolant filter tee pvc/plastic? If so, you may want to drain coolant enough to remove and inspect the tee. I've seen them buckle under the pressure of a hose clamp, so that tightening the clamp would only make the leak worse.
