Having a database just gives you warning, the problem with the red light cameras is when they have them installed, they shorten the cycle from when it goes to yellow and the yellow light is shorter, and even some of them green to red with no yellow.
they do this to generate revenue, in the 1st 3 months Tampa had them installed they generated 3 million dollars in fee's.
they are for revenue generation only and make people like me alter the way i drive, i now either slam on my brakes to avoid going through the light or accelerate to make sure I clear it if it turns yellow when I am in the intersection.
If I wanted to run red lights I would obstruct my tag, if they can't read all ofthe tag, they can't give me a citation.
I was thinking of using a small dab of hotglue on a soda can on the bumber, that way a police officer would think i just left a soda can on the bumber.
I am just messing with ya. Just like having a radar detector and I have one of those. I have read some articles on the red light cameras and they sound bogus.
Red light cameras have a bad rep. They do increase accidents, but they reduce FATAL accidents by a large margin. Also, according to [INSERT NAME OF THE LARGE TEXAS TRAFFIC INSTITUTE HERE, YOU KNOW THE ONE, I'M JUST TOO LAZY TO LOOK IT UP] most municipalities do NOT change the yellow light time when installing the cameras. They are intended to be used as a determent, not a profit generator.
The [INSERT THAT TRAFFIC INSTITUTE NAME HERE AGAIN] did do a study where they shortened the yellow lights by 1 second in a city. Red light tickets increased by 100% That is generally where that rumor comes from. I am not saying that some places dont shorten the yellow lights, but by in large, they stay the same.
Fun Fact: How much money does the CHP get from issued tickets?
A: $0 annually. Funds from tickets pay for the maintenance of roads and other related services. CHP is entirely funded by vehicle registration.

In tampa they have altered the timing of the lights with red light cameras.
BTW with a stop watch it is easy to tell what the timing of a light is and compare it to other similar lights, it has been done and studies have proven the red light cameras have shorter yellow sequences.

Reason: remove politics
Regards from reasonably-timed yellow light, sunny southern California
Even with the red light cameras I would rather live in Florida, I can buy a standard AR15's and other 'assault weapon's' and a M82 Barett 50 caliber rifle, you guys can't.
That sucks. I don't think I would ever have the right license plates on my vehicle if I got a "picture ticket" one time.
the problem with changing tags on a vehicle is it is criminal offense to drive a vehicle with atag not assigned to it and it is an automatic ride to jail.

They tried red light cameras up here in Minneapolis, but a court ruled they were illegal so they had to shut them down and refund all tickets that were issued from them. So the city was out all that money plus the cost of putting in the cameras.

This actually happened to me once. I was on my way home from work and I got pulled over by 2 cops. They tell me I have the wrong plates on my truck. Luckily they were pretty understanding after running my license and the VIN on my truck and seeing there's no reason I would be using the wrong plates. Turned out the dealer put the wrong plates on when I bought the truckand I had been driving around with the wrong plates for 6 months. They gave me a fix-it ticket to get the right plates on it.
