After reading about leaky radiators on the forum, I decided to check mine today and discovered two orange rubber bands hanging from underneath. This is my first attempt at posting photos so bare with me. Anyone got any ideas what they are or where they are suppose to be?
I have those here and there on my truck as well. I'm quite confident that these are left-over manufacturing artifacts. They were probably used to hold tubes and harnesses together until properly installed. Nobody bothered to take them off afterwards, but not a big deal...
That was my guess too, but it never hurts to ask and I didn't want to take them off without knowing. I might ask the local dealer next time I'm by their though just to be safe.
Had them on my truck at delivery also. I asked the service manager what they were for and since this was the first MY 2011 they had in for service they didn't know either. Service manager asked parts manager to check parts breakdown and he couldn't find them either. Next they asked the diesel mech and he walked over to his tool box and said he needed to get a special tool and came back. He slid under truck and cut them off with a pair of wire cutters and handed them to me. He said that he was not going to make his first call to the hot line on an 11 over rubber bands, smiled and walked away. So I bet it safe to remove them, my front end is still attached after 20 months.....
I have 5 on my desk right now from when I was shopping for new trucks. I'd always find them in the front bumper behind the license plate bracket whenever I was doing a walk around. I also later found one inside my engine bay between 2 hoses, but due to its location it had dried up and cracked so I threw it out.
