62 ranchero 200 ci c-4 need help
i just bought a 62 ranchero with the original 200 ci engine
i was having some issues with the transmission and the throw of the shifter
the previous owner changed it over to a c-4
now the c-4 wasnt on rancheros til 64 so the linkage is wrong and the column shift does not work correctly
it doesnt line up straight so it is at kind of an angle and doesnt get the full throw
anyone know where i can get an adapter or how to make the shifter work correctly?
thanks

I just bought a 62 ranchero with the original 200 engine.
The original engine would have been the 144 I-6, the 170 I-6 was optional. 200 I-6 first introduced in 1964.
I was having some issues with the transmission and the throw of the shifter. The previous owner changed it over to a C4.
Now the C4 wasn't available in Falcons & Ranchero's until 1965 .. so the linkage is wrong and the column shift does not work correctly.

You are misinformed how these Falcon/Ranchero's were originally equipped. The only available I-6 engines offered 1960/63 were the 144 I-6 (standard equipment) and the optional 170 I-6. Both have 4 main bearings.
The 200 I-6 (7 main bearings) was introduced in 1964 as was the C4, but...
1964 Falcon I-6 & 260 V8: The only available A/T was the 2 speed Ford-O-Matic. The C4 wasn't available in Falcon's until 1965.
Only 1964 Fairlanes and 1965 Mustang's assembled 3/1964-8/22/1964 were available with C4's.
Post the VIN, all the codes from the Warranty Plate. When decoded, the original equipment will be known.
And, btw: While the 289 was introduced in 1963, it was not offered for Falcons until 1965.
