Hey all-
Got new springs so I decided to pull front and rear difs to clean and paint. Rear came out just fine, 'cept for a sticky nut on the E-brake!!! Anyways, got the brake lines off the front, the hydraulic lines from the steering cylinder came off fine, now I'm left with the steering linkage that attaches to the drivers left hub, on top. I got the nuts off but at the bottom of the studs there is a "cone" nut that holds the bracket to the hub. For the life of me I cannot remember how to remove these !
Any idears out there?
Thanks, Bob on the Oregon Coast.
If its what I'm thinking of, they are cones that press into a cone shaped reciever around the stud. The nut presses the cone into the metal. If thats it, the I just use a hammer to tap the metal and loosen the cones.
Yeah, those are the ones, I'll be damned if I can get those bad boys out. Tried tapping with a hammer, no luck. Gonna try heating them up a bit and quenching with water. Wish me luck.
Bob
