transmission problem
I recently bought a 1995 f-250 with the 7.3 power-stroke diesel with the automatic trans and 180,000 miles. occasionally when coming to a stop it feels like the trans does not want to "let go" and I get a bad lurching until i put it neutral. Now it seems to be getting worse. When I start the truck and then put it in drive, the trans grabs right away and when cold it stalls and when warm the engine lugs and the truck lurches forward. other than this the engine runs great and the trans shifts smoothly up and down. Just an adjustment, right? Help.

transmission problem
I had this problem with my RV just before the oil seal in the transmission pump picked up on the shaft and bang went the transmission. $3000 later and its still not fixed as it seems to have done some other damage not spotted in the rebuild. They are now talking about damage to the springs in the lock up clutch and possibly a new torque convertor. Up to the time of the failure the only clues that anything was wrong was the dragging or the transmission when cold, it drove fine. When oil seal failed it blew the transmission oil out of the bell housing, serious mess all over the road and no drive.
Sorry for this disaster story but I hope you can learn from my experience.
