I think I've got it figured out. Your pump looks just like a 238. Application says: 63-64 ford fullsize (car) w/ 2bbl carb. Hit the store up for a picture and see what you think.
AbFitch,
I agree that something may not be original. That's why I'm trying to ID the old pump. I figure that a new one with the same arm (lever) configuration should work without the knocking noise.
A few years ago I replaced the fuel pump on my 352, and noticed that the arms were different. I little piece of paper in the box said: Warning! Ford F.E. and Windsor fuel pumps will physically bolt in place of each other, but using an F.E. pump in a windsor will cause severe damge. I found that using a small block pump in an F.E. will pump fuel, but it makes noise and pumps less. I found that someone had put a small block pump into that 352 sometime in it's life. It was quieter after I put the replacement pump in...
The part number from Carquest for my 360 motor was Fp 6676.
I bought it because the original went bad. I replaced it two week later with a holley as i put in a cam and bigger carb. I believe i still have the pump I can take a look tommorrow and see what the arm looks like.
