The spec for the damper bolt is 212 lb/ft of torque. The engine starts turning long before you can get it that tight. Don't think that bolt would get damaged unless you tried this on a seized engine.

Matt,

While it's on the stand can you throw in a try wth a 1/2" impact wrench?

Compression tests are supposed to be done with all the spark plugs/glow plugs removed. But that one cylinder you are testing is gonna make the motor hard to turn over by hand and get a accurate reading.

update
i did a compression test today on the motor on the stand with a breaker bar.
i turned it with all 210lbs i had all i could get was 30psi. i just cant turn it fast enough to not get leak down.
so a test on the stand with a breaker bar wont tell you much.

the book says to torque it to 212ft lbs. so it should take that much.

An impact will not turn the motor.

Hate to bump an old thread but what size bolts and length is everyone using to hang a 7.3 on a stand? Thanks!
