Ok, i put a budget clutch from NAPA in my 95 and it feels totaly different. It reminds me a of an 70's Ford 390 clutch its real stiff at the bottom of pedal. But this still doesnt answer that paper on paper sound when driving, and it goes away just as soon as i depress the pedal, i am positive it is somethin to do with the throwout.
What makes the gear roll over noise go away after a while ?
The driver's brain, I think. We're on SMFs on both trucks, and they seemed louder than Sam Kinison screaming at a Ramones concert in Hell when first installed. I honestly can't say that they appreciably quieted down, but we just don't notice it anymore. Sorta like people who live next to the railroad tracks, after a while you just tune it out. I'd be curious to hop in a DMF truck now and light it up, just to see how it sounds to us now.
