HELP!!!

Hi All,

We just bought our first Ford truck...a 2008 Ford F350 Super Duty Diesel Dually...to pull a 5th Wheel.

All of the weights are well within Ford's recommendations, but the other day when we drove up a hill with a 7% grade we couldn't get above 25 mph.

Are we supposed to start in a lower gear or just go into Drive. We were in Drive and the engine sounded like it was really labouring.

Is there a way to get the Turbo to kick in.

Sorry to sound so lost...but we really are.

Thanks for any help
Barbara and Jim

Did you hear a big bang when you put your foot into it? I blew off a CAC tube once going up a hill and the engine really raced but had no boost and therefore no power, what is or was your boost gauge showing?

Either one of the CAC hoses are off or the truck is in limp mode.

Need to pop the hood and follow all the tubing from the air intake filter around to the turbos. Both sides of the motor.

Very front radiator is the CAC. Check all the connections.

How does the truck run at WOT without a load?

WOT = Wide open throttle CAC= Charge Air Cooler,,goes to the turbo.
I think it's best to get the truck to a reputable Ford dealership for a look see. The 6.4L is a great engine but it is definatley not a beginner diesel owner motor. I know I'll get abit of flak for this but it's what I think, The 6.4L is a maintenance pig and needs lot of attention like say,, Linsey Lohan. Other than that this engine is the cats ***,, oopps started to rant there,, sorry all.
