egr delete question
OK I know this topic gets beat to death but I have one question. I have a egr delete so my question is does my egr valve still function and if it is bad will I still need to replace it?? The reason I'm asking is cuz since I did the delete it is showing a p0401 code so I'm wondering if the valve is bad or stuck. I did pull it and cleaned it and put new rings on it, oh and the truck is a 04 with 170k on it.

this codes is from the EGR Deleate
leave the EGR Valve in and plugged in
I take it you have a newer flash on the truck
You will need a tunner to get rid of that code
the egr valve is ok IMO you would get a diff code for a bad egr valve

IIRC some trucks went into a Limp Mode
Some of the newer PCM stratigys will set the cel and go into a Limp mODE since this is emmission relaited
Being an 04 Not all of those will set a CEL for EGR problems IIRC some got newer PCM stratigys that will trigger the CEL
I have an egr deleate I have never been able to Retreive a DTC because of it Now If I went in and had the PCM Flashed odds are it would trigger a CEL for the exact same as you Insuficante flow
The PCM looks at MAT & EBP for Proper EGR Flow you need a tunner to tell the PCM to stop looking for these things
