rear axle spindle

Is there a difference in spindle length between the 12 1/8" X 2" brake and the 12" X 2 1/2" brake set ups?

I'm guessing you mean on a F-250?

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the difference is in brake drums and backing plates.

yes i was talking about on a f250. I went to a different wrecking yard today and talked with a very knowledgeble sales guy there whom i have used in the past and he told me spindle length is the same from light duty to heavy just the back plate, drum shoes and hardware is different. He sold me a much deeper backing plate than what the last guy sold me. so hopefuly this works this time
