Very nice! That looks awesome! I have a '49 and have thought about welding the fenders to the bed sides as well. Have you seen or thought of any negatives to doing it?
Drewski..
The best form of flattery is to copy them..hahaha thanks so much,, only difference my fenders are welded on.. oh you can't see the gate.. but it your design too.. think its hangin off to the right maybe in the back round..
hey any ideas for a hard bed cover ??????
I think I have just about $400 into it.. not to bad.. of course that doesn't count time.. which is free for me..
Thank you so much for all the great ideas..
Mike
Mike, consider me flattered! I was amazed at how close you got the look of your bed considering that I really didn't give you any dimensions. My wife walked through during my viewing of this thread and she couldn't believe that it was not a picture my bed.
Are photos coming of the tailgate? How are you going to hinge and latch it?
Hard bed cover? I haven't really given that any thought..........yet.
I'm glad to see you were able build it for $400. I bought my steel before metal prices went nuts, so I wasn't sure how you would come out.
I'm glad to see you back on this site. The very darksiders have been sorta quiet lately. I can almost hear the grinders and welder running. I know there's something evil going on behind some closed garage doors.
Looking good. Sure would be good to see you at a Pigeon Forge show again. You wouldnt believe it but Drewski leaves about 20 minutes from and I have been over to his shop. Your bed is darn near spitting image of Drew's.
Hey Donald, good to hear from ya.. who knows maybe I'll just have to ride the bike down again... pretty sure the truck won't be ready at the rate I'm going.. hahaha
Didn't have any takers on my crew I was trying to put together.. hahaha
heres a pic of the tailgate prior to finish work..
i added more pics in the bed album..
Thanks Randy.. nice to hear from ya... you all done with yours ?
Drewski.. the hindges are similer to yours.. a friend of made the incerts for the bottom roll with a bronze incert then stainless pins mounted just like yours... the latches are aircraft seat belt buckles...
