glow plug problems on 6.9
I started today checking voltage at the battery and relay and they were good. Next I checked voltage at the relay on the battery side and It was good. Next I had my girlfriend turn on the key and I checked the key side voltage and that was good. But I had a new problem....No voltage to the GP's or the WTS light. Now what? Since I had my new relay/controller I decided to replace it and also check all wires again as I changed it. First all glow plug leads were fine. As I was removing my old controller I discovered my ground wasn't under one of the bolts for the controller but it was under a nut near the rear of the intake. And guess what? It was loose!!!!! I went ahead and checked ever thing again and installed the new controller and tried it. The WTS light stayed on for 8-10 sec and it started right up!!! I took it for a ride and the volt meter stayed on 14 volts and the WTS light never came on again!! Thanks so much guys!!! I still have the IGN to deal with since I did had to use a remote starter switch to start it!!
That really is not an uncommon problem, to many peeps are in a hurry these days and don't do a complete job!
I'm one of those that believes, If you're gonna do something, do it right or don't do it at all.
