Ok, so this weekend I'm taking on the task of drilling 15 holes in the roof of my truck while installing Recon Cab lights. I am considering filming this project and posting it on here. Does anyone think it would help to have a video of this available?
I've searched Youtube and only been able to locate a few Dodge RAM videos of this.
Didn't know if Ford people would want to see this done on a 2011 F250 Lariat.
Be careful of wiring! there was a thread a while back about wiring in the area of clearance lights if you have nav, or maybe even sync? just a thought. search for a thread on this, they were discussing pulling the headliner down for a peek before drilling. I did see a chevy with this lighting system on it, he had matching headlights and marker lights, and LED tail lights and it looked AWESOME! Good luck!
Thanks for the warning. I definatly planned to drop the headliner before drilling anything. I will be approaching this job very cautiously. I am going to be wiring a relay directly to the parking light wire in the harness at the driver's kick panel.
I did this a little over a month ago. A video would have been great and could have saved me a lot of time. I don't have a video, but did post pictures, and a narrative of what I did/used: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-pictures.html
Just installed cab lights on a 1993 F250 xlt could not find any plug in harness so I just tapped into the hot tailight wire going to the back of the truck under the sterring wheel up against the fire wall took me sometime to find which wire it was but there were to wire harnesses one going to the front and one going to the rear of the truck I just turned on my tailights found the wire that was hot using testlight then left my test light in the wire turned off tailights and watched my testlight go out Hope this helpes Good Luck
Video would be great; dschuffert's pictures were great too. Truck I bought off of lot was missing two things that I would have ordered; clearance lamps was one of the items.
Last time I installed clearance lamps was a 76 E-350 van; no air bags, much simpler and I think I had less gut in the way.....
Lol, no. I did let Google post their ads for a little while. You know those little ads that pop up over the video and you always have to press the X to close them? It was really distracting and kind of embarrassing so I opted out of that program. The only reason I do the videos is just because I enjoy the truck and enjoy knowing somehow, somewhere they saved someone some time.
