Hey all I've been having problems with my bronco and i'm pretty sure its the TPS. This thing looks simple to install, just remove the throttle body and basically plug the new one in. BUT i looked in my haynes manual and it said something about adjusting it electricly or something...Any help here would help because it would be a lot easier to just put this thing in and drive away hehehe i know thats not going to happen!
I don't have a multi meter, its a 302 5.0, with 164,000 miles on it. I'm heading to bed but will post whats been going wrong with it tommorrow, i've jsut returned from the hospital and am tired out. But i had it checked at an autozone back in november and the guy said it was the TpS. Thanks for the help, talk to ya tomorrow.
You can get a decent multimeter at Sears, Radio Shack, or Wal-Mart for ~$15 and a Haynes manual for $12 that shows exactly how to test all the sensors & actuators. Plus, you can pull the codes yourself free anywhere with only a paperclip.
so at idle it should be at 1? I already have the manual, i'll have to pick up the meter this week and try this. So this should pretty much be a straight forward fix. About reading the codes with a paper clip, how do i do that, just place the clip so it bridges the two holes in the plug or something and listen/watch the check engine light? You gotta love fords, a paper clip will tell you whats wrong with it
