When I bought the truck from the bank it came with 2 valet key fobs. The automatic starter rarely ever works, it doesnt hold the starter long enough so it will just missfire, I found some factory ford key fobs on ebay. Can I take out the valet starter and go back to factory? Its in a 06 f250 xlt

 

I had the same issue. Bought my truck from the dealer with some pos Avital remote starter that came with 2 remotes for it. The remotes sucked and I could never tell if the doors were locked or not using them. If your truck came equipped from the factory with the keyless entry system with remotes, then you can just buy the remotes off ebay and register them to your truck.

The question is going to be how you find out if it has the keyless entry? What I did was go out and try to get my truck into registration mode. If you insert your key in the ignition and then cycle it from off to run, don't start it, but off to run 8 times in under 10 seconds, the door locks should cycle. If the door locks cycle, that means the keyless entry system is in registration mode and you can register new remotes to it...

However, I have been told that this method doesn't necessarily mean you have keyless entry so beware. It worked out fine for me. I bought 2 new fobs off ebay and I think I paid around $25 shipped so if it was a bust, I wasn't out a ton of money.
