Keypad entry system and Remote starter?

Keypad entry system and Remote starter?
I want key pad entry system and remote starter installed on my truck ASAP. Any suggestions? Any particular brand on EBay? How much should I spend on installing both (I ‘m not sure if I want to install it myself, key pad is ok but not the starter at least)?

If you have factory keyless, you can add the stickon Ford keypads. For remote start, I like my ford one, but you have quite a few choices. I would stick to a DEI brand, such as directed, Design tech, Viper, Clifford, ect.

I have factory keyless entry now. how do I configure key pad to work with existing key less entry? Where do I get those keypads only? EBay?

Ford dealers have access to the addon keypads, I think they will have to program it into your 2000's VSM any way. Any how, you follow the directions in the package and stick them to the door or anywhere you like.

Yes the keypad can be bought on ebay, usually for about $50 less than the dealer. It is easily programmed to work with your truck the same way you program a keyfob. You turn the trucks ignition on and off a certain number of times, and then hit the door lock on the door. Then you press a button on all of your fobs and enter in the code on the keypad. It's really simple should only take a couple of minutes.
However, I am not sure what brand if any of the remote starters will work with the keypad.

I don't think it will matter, the key pad will activate the factory keyless. The remote start will have it's own keyfobs, but it shouldn't interface with the VSM or override the ford fobs/keypad.

Love that ebay! You can get some great deals on the most obscure items. I just bought a skimmer weir for my swimming pool, not one local pool place even had a clue.

To add to what Beer just said, when you program the keypad in you'll need to re-program in ALL of the controllers again. If you don't, the keyless entry system will only recognize the keypad and will have deleted the keyfobs. The instructions for programming the keyless entry are in your owners guide. If you don't have one you can download one here--> http://www.motorcraftservice.com/ Use the Owners Guide menu on the left.
And any remote start is compatible with the keypad. It's the remote starts w/security systems that are a problem. In the case of wireless keypads only the Ford RS/security system is compatible. If you don't want to carry around 2 remotes, get the Ford remote start system.
